Consumer's Perception Towards The Adoption of Digital Payment System in MOELCI II, Tangub City
Published in September 2026 (Vol 1, Issue 1, 2026)
This study examined consumers' perceptions of the adoption of the digital payment system of Misamis Occidental Electric Cooperative II (MOELCI II) in Tangub City. Specifically, it assessed perceptions in terms of security, convenience, trust, perceived usefulness, and ease of use, and identified the dimension with the lowest level of perception. A descriptive-quantitative research design was employed involving 374 MOELCI II consumers selected through purposive sampling based on the recommended sample size generated using the Raosoft Sample Size Calculator. Data were collected using an adopted and modified questionnaire and analyzed using weighted mean. The findings revealed that respondents generally held favourable perceptions of the digital payment system, with all dimensions obtaining ratings interpreted as Agree. Convenience obtained the highest weighted mean (3.21), followed by perceived usefulness (3.20), ease of use (3.18), trust (3.16), and security (3.14). Although security recorded the lowest mean, it remained within the Agree category, indicating that respondents generally considered the system secure while exhibiting comparatively greater caution regarding transaction safety. Overall, the results indicate positive consumer perceptions across all evaluated dimensions. The findings provide practical insights for MOELCI II to strengthen transaction security, improve customer support, and further enhance its digital payment services to sustain consumer confidence and encourage the continued use of cashless payment platforms.
